As the perfect precursor to this year’s RANZCO Congress in Perth, ASO is gearing up to stage our annual Advocacy and Practice Skills Workshop on the morning of 28 October.

The workshop is now an established ASO learning event offering valuable practice skill training and unique insight into the current state-of-play in medico-politics.

The workshop also includes the second annual Andrew Stewart Lecture. The lecture, given by a high-profile personality working within the health sector, was created to recognise the contribution Western Australian eye surgeon Dr Andrew Stewart made to ophthalmology in Australia during his years of practice. Dr Stewart was a past president of RANZCO, a longstanding ASO board member, and a passionate patient advocate.

Stay tuned for our big announcement in coming weeks about who will deliver the 2017 lecture.

Meantime, Lions Eye Institute Associate Professor Angus Turner and Scott Chapman of TressCox Lawyers leads this year’s list of expert workshop presenters with medico-legal advice from MDA National and key updates on the MBS schedule, political advocacy and much more.

A full workshop program will be released soon.
